We had a late start to they with some confusion on the meet up location (sorry everyone!), but finally about 10:30am we were able to head out from Johnson Village up to the trailhead. This trail has not changed much over the years and one thing is certain, the rocky ledge after the water crossing is still a bear to get up.
The medium wheel base vehicles (XJ/LJ) had a distinct advantage over both the short and long wheel base vehicles today. Peter driving Sully (LJ) and Brenden (XJ) were the only two to make it over the obstacle without winching.
I think it ended up taking us about 2 hours to get 8 of 9 vehicle over the Rocks. Sadly the 9th vehicle got a bit of trail damage and we ended up leaving it below the obstacle until we returned from the lake
It was mid-afternoon when we arrived at the lake. After lunch at the lake we headed back down the trail. Most of the group took a detour after the trail and wandered around the town of Tin Cup.
