Despite a forecast with 90% chance of rain, the club headed south to run Hermit Pass. The group met up at Coyote’s Coffee Den in Penrose and from there caravanned to the trail.
This trail is almost 10 miles and while not rated difficult it can be pretty rocky. In putting up with a bit of a rocky ride, you can be rewarded with amazing views! Along the trail there is even a spot where you can stop and take a short hike to a beautiful waterfall.
and more beautiful views.
The trail tops out at 13,047 feet. And although referred to as a pass, it does not continue, you must return the way you came in. Another fun day in the mountains.
