Not every 4-wheeling outing has to be hard core, sometimes we enjoy getting out and simply enjoy the beauty of this amazing state we live in!
On Sunday, we had 11 rigs out to explore a few trails in the area near Camp Hale Historic Site. We started our trip just off of I-70 and traveled Shrine Pass over to Red Cliff. The wildflowers were stunning and there were even a few places along the trail where we were afforded a view of Mt of the Holy Cross.
After we reached Red Cliff, we took a short trip on Hwy 24 over to Camp Hale to run the other trails we had planned for the day. We started with Ptarmigan Pass (sometimes called Wearyman Creek and Resolution Road). There were some great camping areas along the trail and we stopped at one along a creek to enjoy our lunch.
After lunch we continued our way to the top of Ptarmigan Pass, where we stopped to enjoy the views. We even found some snow and a few folks could not resist a playful snowball fight. Along this trail and shrine pass there were many meadows with beautiful wildflowers. At the north end of Ptarmigan Pass we reached Mcallister Gulch and took that trail for our return trip to Camp Hale.
After a brief stop at the overlook, we continued on the trail, returning to Camp Hale. Another fun day in the mountains.
